The artist A Hamilton Scott is best know for works which use the hills and mountains of the British Isles as backdrops to scenes which catch the eye in
a gentle manner.

Here the artist depicts the quick moving river as it tumbles over rocks in what is reputed to be the River Earn, just south of Kinkell Bridge, Perthshire.  The hills in the distance have a backdrop of grey storm clouds starting to cover the blue sky behind.

This wild, refreshing scene captures the movement of rushing water, clouds, wind and trees in a remote district of the Scottish countryside.    The very pale gold,  almost silver coloured frame complements the cool colours of the subject matter.

Am impressive, but not overdone Louis XV style frame with rocaille corner cartouches, flower and leaf tendrils leading to root centre flourishes.

Notes
The canvas has had a small repair done bottom left. The frame has been repaired several times but is solid and still presents this oil painting very well.

No repairs, cleaning or renovations have been carried out by us.
